The Satanics

The Satanics are a concept band formed in early 1990s Boston, known for blending hard rock with devilish stage personas and darkly satirical lyrics. Fronted by Nat Freedberg, the band emerged from the ashes of The Titanics, mining a tongue-in-cheek “satanic” concept.

Their sound was rooted in raw, guitar-driven rock and roll, but layered with playful mockery of demonic tropes—less occult worship and more rock-opera parody. Their 1993 album Speak of the Devil featured gritty, high-energy tracks like “Devil Music” and “Save a Bullet for Me,” cementing their status as a standout act in the Boston underground scene.

Despite a relatively short lifespan, The Satanics became a pivotal stepping stone paving the way for later success with The Upper Crust.
